Pashinyan says Armenia is not afraid of rising prices because it intends to get rich
Armenian authorities are not afraid of rising prices for raw materials in case relations with Russia worsen, because they expect to get rich by turning the country into a "crossroads of the world," Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a campaign event in the city of Garni.
"It is illogical to threaten Armenia, for example, with high prices, because there is a response to threats of high prices: we will have much more money, so much that it will not seem expensive to us. Today Armenia is becoming the 'crossroads of the world' — this means that Armenia will become a country not of thousands and millions, but of billions and trillions," he said.
Earlier, the newspaper Kommersant reported that Russia warned Armenia about a possible suspension or termination of the agreement on supplies of gas, petroleum products, and rough diamonds if the country continues the process of joining the EU. According to the agreement signed between Armenia and Russia in 2013, Russia supplies Armenia with gas, petroleum products, and rough diamonds without export duties and on preferential terms related to domestic consumption.
The Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia told the Armenpress agency that it had not received "any letters or notifications on this matter."
