Czech president: NATO countries at alliance summits seek not to anger US
The effectiveness of NATO summits in recent years suffers from the fact that member states of the bloc seek not to anger the US.
This opinion was expressed by Czech President Petr Pavel, reported the news agency ČTK.
"NATO summits in recent years suffer because of the desire [of member states] not to anger the strongest member of the alliance, that is the US," the president noted. "Alliance summits would benefit if, in addition to the official part, informal debates of heads of state and government [that were practiced earlier] resume again."
