Armenia's CEC allows arrest of candidate for deputy from Karapetyan's bloc
Armenia's Central Electoral Commission granted the Prosecutor General's Office request for consent to initiate criminal prosecution against David Kazinyan, who is included in the electoral list of the Strong Armenia bloc.
It should be recalled that Armenia's Anti-Corruption Committee appealed to the Prosecutor General's Office to file a motion with the CEC to strip registered parliamentary candidate David Kazinyan of his immunity.
"As a result of measures taken by employees of Armenia's Anti-Corruption Committee, factual data were obtained indicating that individuals appointed as responsible in the Strong Armenia office of the Arabkir administrative district of Yerevan, as well as registered parliamentary candidate from Strong Armenia David Kazinyan, in collusion with supporters and a group of cooperating citizens, promised voters and gave them pre-election bribes.
A criminal case has been initiated on this fact, a number of individuals have been detained, searches and other procedural actions have been carried out," the committee said in a statement.
