Iran collapses passages to uranium reserves
Iran is taking measures to seal the storage site of highly enriched uranium, destroying tunnels and mining the entrances.
This was reported by CNN, citing five sources familiar with U.S. intelligence data.
Previously, the channel reported that the U.S. military urgently prepared a plan for a ground operation to forcibly seize Iranian uranium, but the U.S. president suspended it.
CNN sources said that reaching the uranium reserves after the destruction of the tunnels has become significantly more difficult and dangerous — including for the Iranians themselves. Extracting the uranium will now require heavy excavator equipment and lengthy demining work.
Refusal of about 440 kg of highly enriched uranium is one of the main demands of the United States to the Islamic Republic. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the reserves are under the rubble of nuclear facilities destroyed by Israeli-American strikes in June of last year.
