Pashinyan hopes for quick launch of railway connection with Turkey
Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan expressed hope for the earliest launch of the railway from Armenia to Turkey.
Pashinyan said this at a government meeting, speaking about diversifying the geography of exports of goods from Armenia and the emergence of new supply chains.
“During this time, we have also gained new transport opportunities. Both lines of the Akhalkalaki-Kars railway are functioning. I discussed this issue with the Prime Minister of Georgia, and he assured that there will be no problems in both directions. We also spoke about this with the President of Turkey, and he confirmed that these directions are open. We hope that the railway from Armenia to Turkey will also be launched as soon as possible, not to mention that opportunities will significantly increase within the framework of the TRIPP project,” the prime minister said.
Against the backdrop of Russia's ban or restrictions on the import of Armenian goods, Pashinyan also noted that the Armenian government has always worked on diversifying markets, and this is bearing fruit. “Now we need to facilitate the creation of logistics centers so that tomato producers can find a formula to work as a single exporter, because in many cases the quality of products and the purchase of goods are of interest, but when it comes to volumes, it turns out that we can only produce part of the volumes they are interested in. This can be compensated by introducing consolidated deliveries. There are megachains that are interested, but small volume is a problem for them,” Pashinyan said.
According to the prime minister, the Prime Minister of the Netherlands also wrote him a personal letter, in which he expressed special attention and promised to provide support so that Armenian business structures do not have problems. “We are talking about the rose market, because I remember that in October last year, when we visited different places, we constantly thought about how to consolidate our rose industry so that we could gain access to Dutch markets. But, as they say, Saturday came before Friday, and now this is a very big opportunity,” the prime minister emphasized.
