António Costa: EU summit participants on June 18-19 will consider increasing pressure on Russia
Leaders of EU countries at the summit on June 18-19 will consider increasing pressure on Russia and support for Ukraine, as well as issues of the EU economy and competitiveness.
This was reported by European Council President António Costa in an open letter of invitation to the leaders of the community states for the summit.
"Ukraine remains at the top of our agenda," he noted, specifying that the summit will begin with a video address by Vladimir Zelensky. He emphasized that EU leaders will continue discussing the "double-edged approach - increasing pressure on Russia and military support for Ukraine," as well as "welcome the start of negotiations on the admission of Moldova and Ukraine" to the EU.
After that, they will discuss the problems of "economy and competitiveness" of the EU.
Separately, the issue of drug addiction and drug crime in Europe has been brought up for the summit for the first time.
