Iran reports 17 killed in US strikes in July
At least 17 people were killed as a result of US strikes on Iranian territory on July 8 and 9, with another 115 injured.
This was reported by Islamic Republic Health Ministry spokesman Hossein Kermanpur. "As a result of US airstrikes on six cities in the country on July 8 and 9, 115 people were injured. <...> Unfortunately, 17 of our compatriots were killed," he wrote on X. Earlier, Kermanpur had reported 14 victims and 78 injured. The United States and Israel began a war with Iran on February 28. In June, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding providing for an immediate cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including in Lebanon.
Then, negotiations between the United States and Iran took place at the Swiss resort of Burgenstock, mediated by Doha and Islamabad, to implement the memorandum. However, on the night of July 7-8, the United States resumed large-scale strikes on Iran, accusing it of violating the terms of the agreements reached regarding the Strait of Hormuz. US President Donald Trump stated on Friday that the ceasefire regime with Iran is no longer in effect, but the negotiation process continues.
