Azerbaijani customs officers uncover large shipment of contraband medicines

Officers of the Tovuz Customs Department of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan have thwarted an attempt to illegally import a large shipment of medicines into the country.

As 1news.az reports citing the SCC, the drugs were discovered during the inspection of a cargo truck that entered Azerbaijan through the "Red Bridge" customs post.

A makeshift hiding place in the vehicle's trailer contained 43,836 units of undeclared medicines of 11 types.

An investigation is underway into the incident.
