Magyar threatens to launch impeachment procedure against Hungarian president
Prime Minister of Hungary Peter Magyar threatened to launch the impeachment procedure against the country's president Tamas Sulyok if he refuses to sign an amendment to the constitution that provides for his resignation.
Magyar on July 4 introduced to the parliament of Hungary a draft of the 17th amendment to the constitution, which provides, among other things, for the removal from office of Sulyok and limiting the term of a member of parliament to 12 years.
"On Monday (July 13 - ed.) the parliament will adopt the 17th amendment to the constitution. The president will have five days to sign it. If he does not do so, impeachment proceedings may be initiated against him," Magyar wrote on the social network Facebook.
