Germany will pay for the purchase of 50,000 Ukrainian Shrike UAVs for the armed forces of Ukraine
Germany will finance the purchase of 50,000 strike unmanned aerial vehicles for the needs of Ukraine's defense forces. The matter concerns FPV drones Shrike produced by the large Ukrainian defense company SkyFall.
The contract worth about 90 million euros will become one of the largest open deals by a Western government for the purchase of unmanned systems for Ukraine. The supplied UAVs are equipped with specialized software from the American technology company Auterion, which allows the devices to autonomously track and hit moving targets in the final phase of flight, reducing the effectiveness of electronic warfare means.
Auterion CEO Lorenz Meier confirmed the volumes and cost of this agreement, noting that part of the drones have already been transferred to the Ukrainian side, and the remaining batch is planned to be shipped by the end of the current year. SkyFall confirmed the participation of the German government in the deal, but refused to disclose details. The defense ministries of Germany and Ukraine also refrained from official comments, citing operational security considerations.
