The U.S. lifted part of the sanctions on Venezuela's telecommunications sector
The U.S. Treasury Department has eased restrictive measures against Venezuela, giving American companies the opportunity to supply equipment, technology, and services for the telecommunications industry of this South American country, as well as to hold talks on investments in this sector.
As 1news.az reports, this is evidenced by the content of the licenses issued by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
"All transactions prohibited by the Venezuela Sanctions Regulations, including transactions involving the Government of Venezuela, including CONATEL and CANTV, that are ordinarily incident and necessary to the provision from the United States or by U.S. persons of goods, technology, software, or services for the installation, servicing, upgrading, repair, operation, or support of telecommunications in Venezuela are authorized," states General License No. 61.
At the same time, Washington imposed a ban on any transactions and the creation of joint ventures with individuals and organizations from Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, and Cuba. Operations with gold and the Venezuelan cryptocurrency petro were also excluded from the permissible forms of settlement.
