Became too pro-Russian: Armenia recalls its ambassador from Moscow
Despite the fact that rumors about the recall of Armenian Ambassador to Russia Gurgen Arsenyan appeared long ago, he himself was notified of this only five days ago.
The recall initiative comes from official Yerevan, the newspaper Hraparak writes.
«The ambassador was told that, allegedly with the aim of repairing the strained Armenian-Russian relations, it was decided to send a professional diplomat to the Russian Federation, and that henceforth there would be no political appointments, whereas Arsenyan went to Moscow precisely as a result of a political appointment.
However, he managed to establish rather close ties with the Russian establishment and lately no longer fit into the course pursued by the authorities of the Republic of Armenia», the publication notes.
Thus, according to the publication's sources, Arsenyan has recently spoken out against «anti-Russian steps and statements» and has more than once called on the Armenian authorities to stop «demarches against Russia and return to a constructive path», since otherwise this road is fraught with dangers.
«This fact greatly irritated the authorities, and they decided to get rid of the «traitor» and send one «active warmonger» to Moscow», the Hraparak newspaper's publication notes.
