Italian Foreign Ministry summons Russian ambassador over Solovyov's insults to Meloni
The Russian Ambassador in Rome, Alexey Paramonov, was summoned to the Italian Foreign Ministry, where an official protest was lodged against him.
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced this on his account on the social network X.
"I summoned Russian Ambassador Paramonov to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to express official protests following the extremely serious and offensive statements made by TV host Vladimir Solovyov on Russian television against the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, to whom I express all my solidarity and support," the Italian minister noted.
This refers to the derogatory remarks by Solovyov, in which he, using Italian profanities, called Meloni a "fascist," an "idiot," and used other obscene expressions. He accused the Italian Prime Minister of "betraying" U.S. President Donald Trump, stating that "betrayal is Meloni's second name." "A disgrace to humanity. Betrayal is her second name: she betrayed Trump, to whom she previously swore loyalty," Solovyov claimed.
