Iranian president rules out refusal to negotiate
President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Iran does not intend to "bow its head" before external pressure and will continue to conduct dialogue "with dignity," without abandoning national interests.
Speaking at a meeting of representatives from the press services of executive authorities, the head of state emphasized that Tehran will not sacrifice the country's dignity for "comfort and worldly goods," but the authorities are obliged to govern the country "with intelligence and prudence," according to the website of the President of the IRI.
Pezeshkian also criticized slogans against negotiations, stating that refusing dialogue is a mistake.
"We conduct dialogue with dignity and never yield. We have logic and arguments, and we are capable of defending the country's rights with the support of the people," he noted.
The President of Iran called on society for unity amid external pressure and economic difficulties, warning that internal divisions could pose a threat to the country.
Separately, Pezeshkian addressed issues of the energy crisis, stating that the country consumes significantly more gas and electricity than European states, which could lead to serious problems in summer and winter in the future.
In addition, the Iranian leader criticized the actions of the United States and Israel in the Gaza Strip, calling what is happening a "genocide," and also accused Western media of justifying these actions.
