Trump threatens to leave Israel 'alone against Iran'
American President Donald Trump warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the United States may not provide assistance to Tel Aviv in the event of new shelling.
Trump made this statement to the N12 television channel.
"I told him: Bibi, you have to be very careful in your actions, because very soon you may find yourself alone against Iran," Trump said.
According to Trump, five countries that mediated between the United States and Iran asked him to put pressure on Netanyahu.
"The Israelis provided us with updated information at a very late stage. They were already heading toward Iran. I managed to reduce the scale of the attack," the U.S. president noted.
The American president also said that the Iranian side was the first to promise not to carry out attacks on Israel. "They asked us to tell Israel to stop the attacks. I called Bibi and made him stop," Trump explained. He stressed that he remains committed to the deal with Iran, and that Iran "is interested in signing it."
On the evening of June 7, Iran launched missile strikes on Israel shortly after an IDF attack on Hezbollah infrastructure in the suburbs of Beirut. The Israeli army reported intercepting targets and carrying out retaliatory strikes.
On June 2, Trump said that an agreement with Iran on a ceasefire could be reached "within the next week." On the same day, Tasnim reported that Iran had suspended talks through intermediaries in protest against Israel's actions in Lebanon.
On June 4, Israel and Lebanon, with U.S. mediation, agreed to a ceasefire.
Trump held two telephone conversations with Netanyahu on the morning of June 8. Israel soon stopped strikes on Iran but will continue to strike Lebanon.
