U.S. announces conclusion of peace agreement with Iran, Tehran has not confirmed yet

President of the U.S. Donald Trump and Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif announced the achievement of a peace agreement between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

This is reported by 1news.az citing American media.

“The deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran has been fully completed,” Trump stated on the social network Truth Social. He also ordered the opening of the Strait of Hormuz and the immediate lifting of the U.S. naval blockade from the Iranian coast.

According to Shahbaz Sharif, who acted as mediator, an agreement has been reached on the “immediate and final cessation of military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon.” The signing of the document is scheduled for Friday; until then, as the Pakistani prime minister clarified, “preliminary consultations” will take place.

At the time of publication, the Iranian side has not officially confirmed reports of the conclusion of the agreement.

Earlier, Washington and Tehran had given noticeably different interpretations of the draft deal, particularly regarding the unfreezing of Iranian assets.

The agreement is intended to end the war that began on February 28 and was accompanied by U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian territory. The April truce was repeatedly violated due to a dispute over the Strait of Hormuz, a key transport artery through which about 20% of global oil supplies passed before the war.

The situation is further complicated by ongoing Israeli strikes on the suburbs of Beirut, which calls into question the sustainability of the announced agreements.
