Visit of high-ranking Vatican representatives to Azerbaijan begins
Prefect of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue of the Vatican Cardinal John Jacob Kuvakad and the accompanying head of the Islamic Bureau of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue of the Vatican Father Laurent Bazanez will be on a week-long visit to Azerbaijan starting tomorrow.
This was reported by the Ambassador of the Holy See (Vatican) to Azerbaijan, Turkey and Turkmenistan, Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Marek Solczynski.
Ambassador M. Solczynski, noting that relations between Azerbaijan and the Vatican are an example for the world, emphasized that he believes the visit, which will begin tomorrow at the invitation of the head of the Caucasus Muslims Board Allahshukur Pashazade, will also create new opportunities for cooperation:
"Azerbaijan helps in the restoration of many works of art and historical buildings of the Vatican. Our ties are at a very good level. Therefore, we often meet, implement joint projects. We also have new plans and projects. Our relations are dynamic and develop depending on circumstances and emerging opportunities".
It should be noted that the visit of the prefect-cardinal of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue of the Vatican and the head of the Islamic Bureau of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue of the Vatican to Azerbaijan will last until June 19. The guests will be accompanied by the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to the Vatican Ilgar Mukhtarov.
Within the framework of the visit, they are scheduled to visit the Catholic Church in Baku, Albanian temples in Gabala and Sheki, the "House of Tolerance" in Icherisheher, Heydar Mosque in Baku, as well as meetings with public representatives and deputies of the Milli Majlis.
