Trump calls reports of planned US payments to Iran false
American President Donald Trump called information about planned US payments to Iran deliberately false.
"Iran has agreed never to have nuclear weapons," wrote the head of the Washington administration on June 15 in Truth Social. The president noted that "the publication that the US will pay Iran $300 million is a deliberate distortion of facts." Trump accused Democrats of spreading this information.
Trump wrote about a payment of $300 million, but some media earlier reported that Iran could gain access to a fund of $300 billion for the country's restoration.
Earlier, officials from the US, Iran, and Pakistan, acting as mediator, confirmed the achievement of an agreement between Washington and Tehran aimed at ending the war in the Middle East. The solemn signing ceremony is planned for June 19 in Geneva. According to Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, during the 60-day ceasefire, the parties will discuss, among other things, Tehran's nuclear program; from June 15, the end of the US naval blockade of Iran is announced, as well as the immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon. The US and Israel began the war with Iran on February 28.
