"We are very vulnerable, Ukrainian military have us like on the palm of their hand." Lukashenko stated that Ukraine has "absolutely nothing" to fear from Belarus

Alexander Lukashenko in an interview with Al Arabiya television channel stated that involving Belarus in the Russian-Ukrainian war is unacceptable, and also apologized to Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky.

The interview was published on Lukashenko's website.

During the interview, Lukashenko was asked to comment on statements by Ukrainian authorities and military about a possible threat of a new offensive by Russian troops from the territory of Belarus.

He replied that he had discussed these statements with Vladimir Putin and both allegedly consider involving Belarus in the war "absolutely unacceptable." According to Lukashenko, this would do more harm than good.

"Belarus is very vulnerable militarily. Because Belarus is like on the palm of the hand for the Ukrainian military. We understand perfectly well that our main vital facilities — production and logistics — will come under attack," Lukashenko explained. He assured that Ukraine has "absolutely nothing" to fear from Belarus.

Commenting on his harsh words toward Zelensky, Lukashenko suggested that he "went overboard somewhere." He emphasized that this was a response to statements and threats from Ukraine.

"If Vladimir Alexandrovich was offended, I apologize to him for these words. Maybe it was not necessary [to say them], given that he is still fighting. Maybe I should not have spoken so sharply about it. But, on the other hand, he should understand, we often say: as they sing, so they bury," Alexander Lukashenko stated.

At the same time, he noted that Zelensky needs to be more careful and cautious, as well as "calm down" and "not provoke Belarusians."

Vladimir Zelensky in April claimed that military activity had increased in Belarus. According to him, Russia may try to draw this country into the war. Lukashenko previously said that he does not want war, but is ready to enter it if Ukraine attacks Belarus.
