Vance: US may resume strikes on Iran if agreements are violated
The US administration may again begin striking Iran and resume its naval blockade if it determines that Tehran is not complying with the terms of the agreements.
This was stated on June 15 by US Vice President JD Vance.
"It could be," he replied on Fox News when asked if such steps by the US were possible. "It could mean the return of the blockade. It could mean a lot," Vance added, referring to actions by the American side in that case. "We hold all the cards. And if they (Iran - TASS) do not comply with the agreements, we will decide what to do," he said.
Earlier, officials from the US, Iran, and Pakistan, acting as mediator, confirmed the reaching of an agreement between Washington and Tehran aimed at ending hostilities in the Middle East. The document is planned to be signed in Geneva on June 19. According to Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, during the 60-day ceasefire, the parties will discuss, among other things, Tehran's nuclear program; from June 15, the end of the US naval blockade of Iran is announced, as well as the immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that responsibility for implementing the US-Iran agreement, including stopping Israeli aggression against Lebanon, is fully placed on Washington.
