Iran waives fees for passage through Strait of Hormuz for 60 days
Iran will not require payment for any services in the Strait of Hormuz for 60 days and will cover all expenses itself.
This was stated by the country's Supreme National Security Council.
"According to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, for 60 days no fees will be charged from applicants, and all related expenses will be covered by the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran," the statement said. It is noted that all vessels wishing to pass through the Strait of Hormuz are still required to submit applications to Iran's Persian Gulf Supervision Administration (PGSA), but all of them will be processed promptly.
The council added that Iran will take all measures to demine the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with the memorandum concluded with the U.S.
"As for other issues, including demining, the necessary measures will be taken in accordance with paragraph 5 of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding," the statement indicates. It is noted that, taking into account the special conditions and the presence of some security threats in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz, as well as the need to ensure safe movement and prevent maritime incidents, vessels must adhere to the time and route indicated to them, and this will allow to gradually increase the throughput capacity.
