For the first time in the country's history three of our universities entered the top 800
The international rating agency Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has announced the results of the QS World University Rankings.
According to the results, for the first time in the country's history three of our universities entered the top 800 of the mentioned ranking. At the same time, the number of our universities represented in the top 1000 increased from 6 to 7. In total, the number of Azerbaijani universities included in the ranking reached 10.
Baku State University rose 123 positions, taking 565th place in the world. Azerbaijan State University of Economics moved from the 801–850 range to 634th place, and Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry moved from the 851–900 range to the 711–720 range.
In addition, Azerbaijan Technical University, Khazar University, Baku Engineering University, Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, and ADA University improved their positions and rose in this ranking. Sumgayit State University maintained its positions, and Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University entered this ranking for the first time.
The number of Azerbaijani universities in the mentioned ranking is 2.5 times higher than the total number of universities from other countries of the South Caucasus that entered this ranking.
It should be noted that until 2025, Azerbaijani universities were not represented in the top 800 of world rankings. In 2025, one of our universities entered the top 800 for the first time, and in 2026 their number reached three.
More than 1500 universities from 106 countries of the world entered the mentioned ranking.
