Vance: US has effectively lifted blockade of Iran's seaports

The United States has effectively lifted the blockade of Iran's seaports, and Tehran has begun allowing commercial vessels to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

As TASS reports, this was stated at a press conference in the White House by US Vice President JD Vance, commenting on the signing by Washington and Tehran of a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the conflict.

"The Iranians have not fired on any ships for the second night in a row. And CENTCOM (US Armed Forces Central Command - TASS note) has allowed more than a dozen ships to pass through our naval blockade. So we are also fulfilling our part <...> of the agreement," he said. The area of responsibility of CENTCOM includes primarily the Middle East.

According to information presented by Vance, 12.5 million barrels of oil have already been transported through the Strait of Hormuz after the signing of the memorandum.
