Iran warns of military response in case of US violation of obligations
Any violation by the United States of its obligations within the framework of the negotiation process will entail a military response from Iran.
This was stated by acting Minister of Defense of the Islamic Republic Majid ibn al-Reza.
"If we see any violation of [the opponent's] obligations during the negotiations, we will respond on the battlefield," he noted in a comment to the Iranian state radio and television company. "The Islamic Republic of Iran is capable of simultaneously conducting negotiations and entering into confrontation," added ibn al-Reza.
On February 28, the United States and Israel launched a military operation against Iran. In mid-June, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding. The terms of the agreement included an immediate ceasefire on all fronts, including Lebanon, the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and the start of the unblocking of Iranian assets. On June 21-22 in Bürgenstock, with the mediation of Qatar and Pakistan, negotiations were held, during which the parties agreed to create a center to ensure the ceasefire regime in Lebanon and a communication line for safe navigation in the Persian Gulf. On June 27-28, a new escalation occurred: in response to an attack by an Iranian drone on a commercial tanker, the US Air Force struck Iranian radars, air defense systems, and weapons depots on the southern coast of Iran in the area of the Strait of Hormuz. On June 28, Washington and Tehran reached an agreement on mutual cessation of strikes and scheduled new consultations to resolve differences over the Strait of Hormuz.
