Jewels worth €4 million stolen from museum in France
Unknown individuals stole jewelry worth €4 million (352 million rubles) from the René Lalique Museum of Jewelry in France, Le Parisien reports citing sources.
The museum is located in the commune of Wingen-sur-Moder in the east of the country.
The robbery occurred around 5:30 local time. According to a source for the publication, several hooded individuals broke down the door and smashed six display cases with jewelry. In total, the thieves stole 20 crystal jewelry items. The exact amount of damage is still being clarified. The source noted that the thieves were apparently "well informed" about which items were more valuable.
Police are now studying footage from surveillance cameras. The museum administration reported that due to the robbery, the exhibition will be closed to visitors in the coming days. The museum will take measures for a "calm and safe resumption of operations."
The museum dedicated to the French jeweler and artist René Lalique was opened in 2011. After the robbery at the Louvre in Paris in October 2025, the museum received the status of an "object of special importance" and was supposed to be "under enhanced security."
