Construction of China—Kyrgyzstan—Uzbekistan railway enters active phase, strengthening development of Middle Corridor
The China—Kyrgyzstan—Uzbekistan railway construction project has entered an active phase.
As reported by the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyzstan, the main international and investment agreements have been signed, the general contractor has been determined, and financing has been secured. Currently, the construction of tunnels, bridges, and other infrastructure facilities is underway.
The railway, approximately 480 kilometers long, will become an important element of the Eurasian transport network and will contribute to the further development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor), which passes through Central Asia, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey towards Europe.
It is expected that the new route will increase regional connectivity, expand opportunities for cargo delivery between China and Europe bypassing traditional routes, and strengthen the transit potential of the countries of Central Asia and the South Caucasus, including Azerbaijan as one of the key hubs of the Middle Corridor.
