In the US, over 700 UAVs intercepted near sports facilities during the World Cup
US authorities have intercepted more than 700 unmanned aerial vehicles launched near stadiums and other sports facilities since the start of the World Cup.
This is stated in a message published by the FBI on X.
"Thanks to unprecedented coordination between law enforcement agencies, the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security, more than 700 UAVs have been confiscated since the start of the World Cup, which were in the no-fly airspace over all 11 US cities hosting the tournament," the agency's message says.
Earlier, the US Federal Aviation Administration reported that no-fly zones would be in effect around 23 stadiums and other facilities where matches and other events of the World Cup are planned. Violators of the established bans face fines of $75-100 thousand, as well as confiscation of drones.
The World Cup is taking place from June 11 to July 19 in the US, Canada and Mexico.
