Drivers in Azerbaijan urged to exercise caution due to rain and strong wind

The Main State Traffic Police Department has called on drivers to show heightened vigilance and responsibility on the roads in connection with the increased traffic intensity on weekends, as well as the rainy and windy weather observed in some districts.

As reported by the department, road users are advised to correctly assess weather and road conditions, choose a speed appropriate to the current conditions, increase the following distance, and avoid sharp maneuvers and sudden braking: "Especially during periods of precipitation, it is necessary to take into account the deterioration of traction with the road surface and the reduction of the visibility zone, and in gusty wind — to be ready for the risk of losing control of the vehicle."

Drivers were also advised to pay attention to the technical soundness of the vehicle before a trip, especially to the condition of the tires, lighting devices, and windshield wipers.

"We call on everyone to strictly observe traffic rules in order to spend the weekend pleasantly and safely, as well as to be considerate of their own safety and the safety of other road users," the statement says.
