Bulgaria reveals details of preparations for Eurovision 2027
Bulgaria will allocate about 20 million euros (about 40 million manats) by the end of 2026 for preparing Burgas to host the international Eurovision Song Contest 2027.
This was stated by the country's Deputy Prime Minister Ivo Hristov after a meeting with Burgas Mayor Dimitar Nikolov — as the Bulgarian National Television (BNT) reports, Hristov, who heads the interdepartmental organizing committee of the contest, said that the state intends to take full part in the preparations for Eurovision.
According to Bulgaria's deputy prime minister, about 20 million euros have already been provided for in this year's budget — the funds will go, among other things, toward the guarantee fee required before the start of the organizational process, as well as toward current expenses.
Of this amount, 15 million euros (about 30 million manats) are intended for the guarantee, and the remaining funds for current preparations. Additional financing is expected to be provided for in Bulgaria's 2027 budget as well.
One of the immediate tasks for Burgas will be preparing the concert venue. By the end of the year, a test concert is planned with the participation of experts from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), in order to check logistics, acoustics, technical equipment, and the organization of the space.
To recall, Burgas was chosen as the host city of Eurovision 2027. The contest will take place in Bulgaria in May of next year.
