Baku calls on Moscow to curb anti-Azerbaijani rhetoric

Materials and statements of an indecent, threatening, and insulting nature directed at the Azerbaijani state, its people, the country's leadership, and our outstanding figures in some Russian media outlets completely contradict the principles of civilized journalism, ethical norms, and human values.

As 1news.az reports, this is stated in a statement by the Press Council of Azerbaijan.

The Press Council considers such cases to be entirely contrary to the spirit of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Russia, as well as to media ties:

"Unfortunately, such cases are consistently observed in Russia's information space. The Press Council of Azerbaijan considers such cases to be entirely contrary to the spirit of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Russia, as well as to media ties. We would also like to particularly note that Azerbaijani media have always been distinguished by a sensitive attitude toward issues involving neighboring countries, including Russia, and have not allowed statements and assertions that go beyond the bounds of professional principles."

The statement emphasized that for this reason, the emergence of such unpleasant cases in Russia's information field causes deep regret and justified discontent among the Azerbaijani public.

The Press Council of Azerbaijan strongly condemns what is happening. At the same time, the Council appeals to the media community and the entire society of Russia with a call to take serious measures in connection with cases aimed at disrupting Azerbaijani-Russian media ties and, in general, friendly relations between the peoples.

The Council once again states that insulting statements and claims of a threatening nature directed at the Azerbaijani state, its people, and its outstanding representatives are unacceptable.

The systematic appearance of such materials under conditions of strict legislative regulation of Russia's information space is tantamount to their approval at the level of the state policy of the Russian Federation.

The Council once again reminds those who allow such expressions of their legal responsibility.
