Russian ambassador summoned to Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry over provocative statements in Russian media
Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mikhail Yevdokimov has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, serious concern and strong protest were conveyed to the Russian side over the provocative, insulting, and threatening statements that have recently been made in Russia's media space against Azerbaijan, its people, and its leadership, 1news.az reports, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The diplomat's attention was drawn in particular to remarks made on August 13, 2026, in a program of the "Frequency of Understanding" project. In addition, the Azerbaijani side recalled the absurd statements aired on "Sputnik" radio on August 7 about the inclusion of Azerbaijan's leadership in a Russian "list of terrorists and extremists," as well as the publication of insulting and provocative materials on the YouTube platform on August 9 and on the "Spas" television channel on August 16.
The foreign policy agency emphasized the categorical unacceptability of discussing possibilities of interference in the country's internal processes and calls for physical violence. It was noted that the continuation of such rhetoric in an even harsher form, despite repeated warnings and discussions at various political levels, causes deep concern. At the conclusion of the meeting, the demand to take immediate and effective measures to end the anti-Azerbaijani campaign and aggressive rhetoric in Russia's information space was once again conveyed to the Russian ambassador.
