Yuriy Husev thanked President Ilham Aliyev for solidarity and support for Ukraine

Ukraine's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Yuriy Husev expressed his gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijani people for the solidarity and support shown to Ukraine.

As 1news.az reports, the Ukrainian diplomat wrote about this on social media following a meeting at which he presented the President of Azerbaijan with a certificate naming him an honorary citizen of the city of Irpin.

"Today it is a great honor for me to present the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev with the certificate of 'Honorary Citizen of the City of Irpin,'" Husev noted.

The diplomat recalled that the decision to confer upon Ilham Aliyev the title of "Honorary Citizen of the City of Irpin" was adopted unanimously by the Irpin City Council on April 30, 2026. This step was a recognition of the personal contribution of the head of the Azerbaijani state and of the entire Azerbaijani people in supporting the community of Irpin from the first days of the full-scale Russian aggression, as well as in the period after the city's liberation from occupation.

Azerbaijan has been one of Irpin's key international partners in the process of its reconstruction. In particular, with the assistance of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Irpin Humanitarian Lyceum "Linhvist" and the consultative and diagnostic polyclinic have already been fully repaired and put into operation.

According to the ambassador, cooperation continues, and the implementation of new large-scale infrastructure projects lies ahead. These include the construction of new housing, the restoration of the children's and youth sports school, the Central House of Culture, as well as the creation of a modern art center.

Husev emphasized that granting President Ilham Aliyev the status of honorary citizen of the hero city of Irpin serves as a vivid symbol of the strong friendship and mutual assistance between the Ukrainian and Azerbaijani peoples.

"I thank you, Mr. President, and all of Azerbaijan for your unwavering solidarity and concrete actions for the reconstruction and support of Ukraine," the diplomat concluded.
