Scientists confirm that the spherical stone found in Jalilabad dates back to the Neolithic era
Following analysis, scientists have confirmed that the spherical stone discovered at the Pashatepe archaeological site in the Jalilabad district dates back to the Pre-Pottery Neolithic period.
As reported by Vafa Mahmudova, chief researcher at the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Doctor of Historical Sciences and associate professor, the stone was studied by the director of the University of Tokyo Museum, Professor Yoshihiro Nishiaki, and by Carolina Hruby, a researcher with the Azerbaijani-German international archaeological expedition.
During the research, the typological features of the find were examined, and it was concluded that it is an artifact of the Levantine type.
The results obtained by the specialists also showed that the sphere discovered at Pashatepe has no analogues in the South Caucasus.
