The IV Uzbek-Azerbaijani interregional forum was held in Tashkent

The IV Uzbek-Azerbaijani Interregional Forum was held in Tashkent, during which issues of expanding ties between the countries and implementing joint projects were discussed, and an exchange of documents took place.

This was reported by the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan.

According to the ministry, the IV Uzbek-Azerbaijani Interregional Forum was held in Tashkent with the support of the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, and was jointly organized by the Export and Investment Promotion Agency - AZPROMO and the Agency for Attracting Foreign Investments of Uzbekistan. The event was attended by government officials of both countries, as well as representatives of about 400 companies operating in the fields of heavy industry, machine building, metallurgy and metalworking, construction, the textile industry, agriculture, the food industry, tourism, education, medicine and pharmaceuticals, engineering, consulting, the mining, chemical, furniture, electrical engineering and automotive industries, the production of leather goods, plastics processing and other sectors.

Speaking at the forum, Azerbaijan's Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov stated that the intensive development of Azerbaijani-Uzbek relations, thanks to the political will of the heads of state, creates an important incentive for further diversification of economic ties and the strengthening of business partnership. The minister noted the positive dynamics of economic relations between the countries, which have a strategic partnership, and emphasized the broad opportunities for strengthening regional ties. It was noted that relations are actively developing not only at the interstate level, but also between cities and regions.

Opportunities were noted for actively promoting cooperation, developing partnership in industry, the investment sphere, trade, energy, the transport and transit sphere, digitalization, agriculture and other areas, as well as for strengthening direct ties between business circles.

It was also emphasized that the Middle Corridor is one of the main areas of economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. The goal is to turn the corridor not merely into a transit route, but into an economic platform where added value is created. To this end, it is important to deepen cooperation in coordinating rail and maritime transportation, optimizing tariffs and expanding digital data exchange.

Karabakh and East Zangezur are of particular importance in terms of new investment opportunities. The infrastructure created by the state and investment incentives form favorable conditions for the private sector. Uzbekistan's support for the restoration of the territories liberated from occupation is an important indicator of the fraternal relations between the two countries.

Uzbekistan's Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov stated that economic relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are developing consistently. The existence of broad opportunities for increasing mutual trade and investment, strengthening direct business ties between regions and implementing joint projects was emphasized.

AZPROMO Executive Director Yusif Abdullayev and Acting Director of the Agency for Attracting Foreign Investments of Uzbekistan Roksana Nesor provided information on the investment and export potential of the two countries, as well as on the support mechanisms provided to entrepreneurs.

Also speaking at the forum were Deputy Head of the Tashkent City Administration Sharof Rakhmanov, Head of the Baku City Executive Power Eldar Azizov, Deputy Head of the Tashkent Region Administration Jahongir Mamajonov, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Aghdam, Fuzuli and Khojavend districts Emin Huseynov, Head of the Namangan City Executive Power Ayubkhon Kamalov and Head of the Bilasuvar District Executive Power Faig Gurbatov. The speeches expressed views on expanding interregional cooperation and creating new opportunities for partnership.

In addition, Deputy Chairman of JSC "Uzavtosanoat" Davron Hidoyatov and Board Member of "Azershakar" LLC Javid Abdullayev discussed the expansion of joint business activity and the promotion of joint projects.

As part of the successfully concluded IV Interregional Forum between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, an exchange of a number of documents aimed at developing cooperation between the countries in various fields took place. The documents cover such priority areas as energy, finance, infrastructure, construction and manufacturing, and provide for the further strengthening of ties between business associations, the full realization of the private sector's potential and the implementation of joint projects.

The forum continued with meetings between representatives of business circles.
