Iran's Interim Leadership Council Decides Not to Attack Neighboring Countries
Iran's Interim Leadership Council, acting as the supreme leader, has decided not to strike neighboring countries unless they are attacked first, stated the President of the Islamic Republic, Masoud Pezeshkian.
"The Interim Leadership Council decided yesterday not to strike or launch missiles at neighboring countries, except in the case of attacks initiated by them against Iran," his words were reported by the Mizan news agency.
The United States and Israel began striking targets on Iranian territory, including Tehran, on February 28, with reports of destruction and civilian casualties. As a result of the attack, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed, and a 40-day mourning period has been declared in the country. Iran is launching retaliatory strikes on Israeli territory, as well as on U.S. military facilities in the Middle East region.
