TRIPP project remains on the US agenda, State Department says
The administration of US President Donald Trump continues to remain committed to the implementation of the 'Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity' (TRIPP) project. This was stated by an official representative of the US State Department in response to a request from Armenpress.
'TRIPP continues to be one of the priorities of the United States, as it holds the potential to promote peace and prosperity in the South Caucasus and beyond. The Trump administration remains committed to making TRIPP a reality,' the State Department representative noted.
He recalled that the project envisages the creation of a multimodal transport hub that will connect the main territory of Azerbaijan with Nakhchivan.
'TRIPP will ensure seamless international and domestic connectivity in the region, expanding opportunities for economic growth and improved well-being,' the State Department official emphasized.
According to him, Azerbaijan will gain connectivity with Nakhchivan, while Armenia will benefit from enhanced regional connections, unlocking the economic potential of the South Caucasus while simultaneously preserving Armenia's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and jurisdiction.
The State Department representative also reported that Armenia is cooperating with the United States and mutually agreed-upon third parties toward the implementation of the TRIPP initiative.
The State Department representative further noted that on January 13, 2026, the United States and Armenia jointly announced the publication of the TRIPP project implementation framework.
'This document represents a clear path to launching TRIPP. Reflecting the principles approved on August 8, 2025, it also underscores the importance of sovereignty, jurisdiction, territorial integrity, and reciprocity for the overall success of TRIPP. As US President Donald Trump noted, TRIPP will pass through "some of the most economically significant places in the world" and "will stimulate trade activity across the Caspian Sea, helping the countries of Central Asia." The ultimate goals of TRIPP are to strengthen the prosperity and security of Armenia and Azerbaijan, expand US trade opportunities through the development of regional trade and connectivity, and create new transit routes from Central Asia and the Caspian region to Europe,' the State Department representative concluded.
