Kyrgyzstan plans to replace all Russian-language village names
The authorities of Kyrgyzstan plan to change the remaining Russian-language village names in the country by the end of 2027.
President of the republic Sadyr Japarov announced this.
"We plan to complete this work next year," he said.
According to Japarov, he is also against naming settlements after famous historical figures in Kyrgyzstan.
Since Japarov’s election as president in 2021, the Russian-language names of more than 15 settlements in Kyrgyzstan have been officially changed. In particular, the village of Voennaya-Antonovka (Chuy Region) was renamed Kozhomkul, and the village of Semenovka (Issyk-Kul Region) was renamed Kozhoyar-Ata.
