Eight people killed in helicopter crash in Indonesia
An Airbus H130 helicopter carrying six passengers and two crew members crashed in Indonesia's West Kalimantan province, with all on board killed, Reuters reports citing local authorities.
According to the head of Indonesia's rescue agency, Mohammad Syafi, the helicopter disappeared from radar on the morning of April 16, just five minutes after departing from a plantation area in Melawi. Later, rescuers found debris, believed to be the tail section of the aircraft, approximately 3 km from the point where contact was lost. Syafi noted that the crash site is in a densely forested area with challenging mountainous terrain.
All eight people on board were killed, the local rescue service confirmed.
The causes of the helicopter crash are under investigation.
