Gadjiyev calls for developing multilateral cooperation in the South Caucasus
In the South Caucasus region, alongside bilateral formats, the development of trilateral and multilateral cooperation is gaining particular importance.
As reported by Report, this was stated by the Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, Hikmet Gadjiyev, during a panel session at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
According to him, the countries of the region should independently shape the agenda and architecture of interaction. "Extra-regional countries should not create the agenda for us. We have a shared responsibility. There are many brotherly countries in our region, and integration is necessary," he noted.
Gadjiyev emphasized that, despite the importance of bilateral relations, it is the trilateral and multilateral formats that can bring additional benefits and strengthen regional cooperation.
As examples, he cited the formats of Turkey–Azerbaijan–Georgia and Turkey–Azerbaijan–Iran.
