Trump rejects Iran's new proposal for conflict resolution

U.S. President Donald Trump and his team have reacted skeptically to a new proposal from Iran aimed at ending the conflict between the two sides, report Reuters and The Wall Street Journal, citing sources.

According to the publications, on Monday, April 27, Trump discussed Tehran's initiative with his aides.

At the same time, as noted by WSJ, the American leader did not completely reject the proposal but expressed doubts about the sincerity of Iran's intentions and its readiness to meet a key U.S. condition—halting uranium enrichment.

In Washington, it is emphasized that issues related to Iran's nuclear program must be addressed as a priority, while the phased approach proposed by Tehran raises serious questions. According to Reuters sources, this is precisely the reason for the American side's dissatisfaction.

As WSJ sources note, the U.S. is not refusing further dialogue and may present its own response and counterproposals in the coming days.

White House Press Secretary Olivia Wales stated that Washington "does not negotiate through the press" and maintains its previously outlined "red lines."

Earlier, Axios reported that Iran had conveyed a new ceasefire proposal to the U.S. through intermediaries, outlining a phased plan: first, a truce and mutual non-aggression guarantees, then the lifting of restrictions on maritime navigation and discussion of the status of the Strait of Hormuz, and only after that—talks on the nuclear program.
