Explosion at fireworks factory in China claims over 20 lives
An explosion at a fireworks factory in China's Hunan province has resulted in the death toll rising to 21 people.
Sixty-one people sustained injuries of varying severity, as reported by China Central Television.
As noted, five rescue teams are deployed at the scene in the city of Liuyang. In total, 482 specialists have been mobilized to manage the aftermath.
It is also known that the blast wave from the powerful detonation damaged buildings within a radius of 300-400 meters. Emergency response services and fire rescue units continue to operate at the site of the incident.
Two gunpowder warehouses on the facility's territory still pose a high risk. Specialists have designated a one-kilometer zone for the main operation and a three-kilometer control zone.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, in response to the incident, has ordered the strengthening of safety measures at production facilities across the country. The explosion at the factory occurred on May 4 at 16:43 Beijing time.
