Leaders of Organization of Turkic States express support for Azerbaijan's chairmanship in OTS, praising country's priorities during term
As Report informs from Turkestan, this is stated in the Turkestan Declaration adopted today following the informal OTS summit.
According to the document, the signatories highly appreciated the successful holding of the Gabala Summit on October 7, 2025, on the theme "Regional Peace and Security."
"We express support for the current chairmanship of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the priorities it has outlined, as well as confidence that the Azerbaijani chairmanship will contribute to further strengthening the OTS as an effective platform for cooperation among member states," the declaration states.
Summit participants also congratulated Turkey on the successful holding of informal meetings of the OTS Council of Foreign Ministers in Istanbul on March 7, 2026, and on the sidelines of the 5th Antalya Diplomatic Forum on April 18, 2026. The leaders welcomed the outcomes of these meetings and stressed the importance of organizing them more regularly.
The signatories also welcomed the adoption of Kazakhstan's new Constitution, which includes norms for protecting citizens' rights in the digital environment, reflecting the country's commitment to responding to the modern challenges of the digital age and creating a sustainable legal foundation for future development.
"The heads of state positively assessed the signing of the Digital Economy Partnership Agreement (DEPA), the Memorandum of Understanding on the development of the Turkic large language model, as well as the ongoing implementation of the Digital Silk Road project, which together contribute to strengthening technological cooperation and digital connectivity in the Turkic world," the document states.
The heads of state particularly highlighted the success of the World Conference of the International Telecommunication Union on Telecommunications Development (WTDC-25), held in Baku from November 17 to 28, 2025, as an important contribution to advancing global digital transformation, strengthening international cooperation, and promoting inclusive and sustainable digital development.
The leaders confirmed their support for Kyrgyzstan's initiative to hold the VI World Nomad Games from August 31 to September 6, 2026, and called on member states and observers to actively participate in this important international event, as well as to promote digital tools for preserving, presenting, and internationally promoting the cultural heritage and traditional sports of Turkic peoples.
The heads of state also welcomed the opening of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Tashkent and emphasized its role as a modern platform for applying artificial intelligence, interactive technologies, and digital solutions in preserving, studying, and popularizing the scientific and cultural heritage of the Islamic world.
