Non-oil and gas exports of Azerbaijan for January-April grew 4.4 times
In the first 4 months of 2026, Azerbaijan's total exports amounted to 12 billion 535 million dollars, of which 4 billion 698 million dollars came from non-oil and gas products.
This was stated on his Facebook page by member of the Milli Majlis Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship, deputy Vugar Bayramov, who also noted the following: “A notable point in foreign trade turnover is the 4.4-fold growth in non-oil and gas exports. Thus, non-oil and gas exports for the first 4 months of this year exceed the total figure for the entire previous year by 30 percent.”
In his post, V.Bayramov explained such significant growth in non-oil and gas exports: “The 4.4-fold growth in non-oil and gas exports in the first 4 months of this year is associated with the export of unprocessed or partially processed, as well as powdered gold. Thus, compared to the same period of the previous year, exports of this type of gold in real terms increased 18 times, and in current prices - 37 times. During this period, Azerbaijan exported gold worth 3 billion 599 million dollars. Another indicator expressed not in percentages but in multiple growth is related to sugar. Sugar exports, which increased 4.2 times, brought the country 37.5 million dollars in foreign exchange earnings. The export value of cotton yarn, which grew 2.6 times, amounted to 16.4 million dollars. Potato exports during the specified period increased 2.1 times. This product brought the country almost 4 million dollars in foreign exchange earnings”.
According to the deputy, overall, after gold, fresh fruit products brought the country the largest foreign exchange earnings in the non-oil and gas sector: 165.1 million dollars. The top three were completed by cotton fiber with 92.7 million dollars.
“The growth of non-oil and gas exports is one of the important factors for further diversification of the economy. Along with the latest positive indicators, stimulating the export of non-oil and gas products not based on natural resources remains a priority task” - concludes V.Bayramov.
