U.S. wants to bring Iran's nuclear issue to the UN Security Council

The United States intends to raise the issue of Iran's nuclear program at the UN Security Council over Tehran's alleged refusal to cooperate with experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Bloomberg reports this.

According to the agency, the United States intends to present the relevant proposal at a session of the IAEA Board of Governors in Vienna. The resolution would require Iran to «urgently remedy its non-compliance» and grant inspectors access to verify whether nuclear material is being used exclusively for peaceful purposes.

As Bloomberg claims, the IAEA has had no access to Iran's uranium stockpiles since June 2025, when Israel began carrying out airstrikes on Iran.

U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly stated that the ongoing military campaign against Iran is aimed at preventing the creation of nuclear weapons.

Last week, Trump said that the United States is considering the possibility of new strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, including the site in the Natanz area beneath Mount Kolang Gaz La.
