"We know that reforms were the main topic of this campaign, and they will remain so. But on my own behalf I want to state: our country needs radical reforms," Merz said at a press conference in Berlin. "We need fundamental reforms in Germany. The fact that we must not only justify them rationally, but also convey them emotionally, is our common task, which I also take upon myself. This is about nothing less than the future of our country and the opportunities of our children and grandchildren," he said.

At the same time, the head of the German government asserted that his "determination to continue the course of reforms remains unshakable." "But I know that we must do more than just justify these reforms mathematically or economically. We must explain them better," Merz summarized.
