The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) announced that it will send 48 tons of humanitarian cargo to Venezuela, which was affected by the earthquake.

"According to preliminary data, a flight will arrive in Venezuela on June 29 and deliver 48 tons of medical equipment and supplies for water supply, sanitation, and hygiene from UNICEF's global supply center in Copenhagen," the fund said in a statement.

Among the humanitarian cargo that UNICEF is sending to the Bolivarian Republic are wheelchairs, tents, first aid kits, and water purification tablets. "UNICEF's local teams are working on the ground (in Venezuela - TASS) and providing vital assistance to children and families," the fund noted.

The earthquake in Venezuela occurred on the evening of June 24. With an interval of about 40 seconds, two series of tremors were recorded, with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5. Their epicenters were located 10 km apart in Venezuela's Yaracuy state. After the earthquake, about 30 aftershocks were noted. According to Venezuelan Health Minister Carlos Alvarado, 235 people died and more than 4,300 were injured. Dozens of buildings were destroyed. The Venezuelan authorities declared a state of emergency. The country's government declared the coastal state of La Guaira a disaster zone.
