In the city of Lahore in Pakistan, the roof of a tutoring center collapsed, killing 14 children, reports the local TV channel Ary News.

The youngest victim was five years old, and the oldest was 16.

As Ary News writes, about 35 children were in the center at the time of the collapse; 20 children and one teacher have already been pulled from the rubble.

Twelve children were hospitalized. According to Health Ministry spokesman Farooq Ahmed, they are in critical condition.

Police arrested two brothers who owned the tutoring center. A total of five people have been detained in the negligence case; the search for another co-owner continues.

Preliminarily, the cause of the collapse could have been construction work on the roof of the one-story building — soil and other materials were being added there, which increased the load on the structure.
