Pashinyan says when Armenia will make a decision on building a new nuclear power plant
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, during a meeting with the director general of the state corporation Rosatom, Alexei Likhachev, stated that Armenia will make a decision on the construction of a new nuclear power plant in the near future.
This was reported by the prime minister's press service.
"The interlocutors discussed issues concerning the work to extend the service life of the second power unit of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant and the Russian side's proposals regarding the construction of a new nuclear power unit. The prime minister noted that the government is continuing discussions on the proposals received from international partners regarding the construction of a new nuclear power unit, and a decision will be made in the near future. Pashinyan emphasized that the final decision will be exclusively economic in nature — taking into account price, quality, safety, timelines, and guarantees," the statement says.
During the meeting, Likhachev presented details about the proposals and possible mechanisms for the construction of both a new nuclear power plant and small- and medium-capacity power units.
