Rosatom and Armenia discuss prospects for creating new nuclear generation
Rosatom State Corporation Director General Alexei Likhachev met with Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, the state corporation's press service reports.
The parties discussed a second extension of the operating life of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant until 2036. Likhachev informed his interlocutors about the completion of the first stage of the project, as a result of which the nuclear power plant received permission for the further operation of the power unit.
As noted in the statement, particular attention was paid to the prospects for creating new nuclear generation in Armenia. "Rosatom offers Armenia proven nuclear technologies in various power ranges, including large, medium and small power units," the state corporation's statement says.
