Kyrgyzstan holds talks with Azerbaijan on fuel imports
Kyrgyzstan has begun negotiations with a number of states on possible fuel supplies to the republic.
This was reported to TASS by the country's Ministry of Energy.
"In order to diversify supplies, negotiations are underway with some states," a ministry representative stated. According to him, the issue of possible fuel imports from Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, as well as other states is currently being worked out.
Reserves of gasoline in Kyrgyzstan now stand at approximately 1.5 months, while diesel fuel reserves are sufficient for about one month, the interlocutor noted. At the same time, various batches of fuels continue to arrive in the republic in different volumes, so there is no fuel shortage. In addition, the authorities instructed one of the local refineries, "Dzhunda," to increase gasoline production to 50 thousand tons per month.
Meanwhile, as First Deputy Prime Minister Daniyar Amangeldiev told the 24.kg outlet, the situation on the republic's fuel market remains stable and the cabinet of ministers is taking the necessary measures to prevent a shortage of gasoline, diesel fuel, and aviation kerosene.
In 2025, consumption of petroleum products in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 1.6 million tons. After the situation in the Strait of Hormuz escalated and world oil prices rose, the republic's government introduced subsidies for fuel prices in order to prevent an increase in their retail cost.
